Privacy Policy
How the Walks journaling app handles your data.
Last updated: April 21, 2026
Walks is a private journaling app for recording walks — their routes, your voice notes, and your reflections. This policy explains exactly what the app collects, where it goes, and the choices you have. We keep this short because the honest answer is short: we don't operate servers that store your personal data.
Who we are
Walks is built by Twenty-Seventh LLC. If you have any questions about this policy, email twentyseventhllc@gmail.com.
What Walks collects
Walks collects only what it needs to record a walk and keep your journal available to you:
- Location (GPS). Required for route recording. Walks requests Always-On location so it can keep tracking when your screen is off. Location is captured only while a walk is active.
- Microphone audio (optional). If you start a voice note during a walk, the recorded audio is saved with that walk. Walks never records audio in the background without you starting it.
- Walk metadata. Distance, duration, pace, timestamps, and any notes you type.
- Motion & fitness (optional). If you grant access, Walks uses step and activity data to improve pace and distance accuracy.
- Purchase receipts. When you subscribe to Walks Premium, Apple provides the app with a receipt so the app can unlock premium features. Apple handles the actual payment.
Where your data is stored
On your device and in your iCloud account — not on our servers.
Walk data (routes, audio, notes) is stored locally in the app and synced privately to your personal iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit. Twenty-Seventh LLC does not operate backend servers that receive or store your walks, audio, or journal content. We cannot read your data.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your personal data.
- We do not share your data with advertisers or data brokers.
- We do not use third-party analytics SDKs that build profiles of you.
- We do not track you across other apps or websites.
Third parties
A few Apple services are involved because the app runs on Apple platforms:
- Apple iCloud / CloudKit — syncs your walks between your devices using your Apple ID. Subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.
- Apple App Store — handles purchases and subscriptions for Walks Premium. Apple provides the app with an anonymous purchase receipt only.
- Apple MapKit — renders the maps you see inside the app. Apple's map services receive only the map tiles needed to display your view.
If this ever changes — for example, if Walks adds a crash reporting SDK — we will update this page and list the service here.
Your choices and rights
- Revoke location or microphone access at any time from iOS Settings → Walks. The app will still open; route recording will stop.
- Delete individual walks from within the app. Deletions sync to your iCloud.
- Delete all walk data by deleting the app and, if you also want the iCloud copy removed, going to iOS Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage → Walks → Delete Data.
- Access or export your data by emailing us. Export is on the product roadmap; in the meantime we will help you retrieve your data directly.
- Cancel your subscription in iOS Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → Walks. Apple handles subscription management.
Children
Walks is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us through the app, email us and we will delete it.
Security
Walk data on your device is protected by iOS data protection. iCloud-synced data is protected by Apple's CloudKit encryption and tied to your Apple ID. Because we do not operate servers that hold your content, there is no central store of user data that could be breached on our side.
International users
Walks is available worldwide. Wherever you are, the same rule applies: your walk content stays on your device and in your iCloud. Twenty-Seventh LLC is based in the United States.
Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, the "Last updated" date at the top of this page will change. Material changes — for example, adding a new category of data collection — will be highlighted in the app before they take effect.
